Project Runway Season 14 Episode 9 Review: Make It Sell

Hey everyone!!
I'm here with another PRR..
I don't know if it's me but these designers are not good at what they do, at all. I can't look at any of these designers and say that I would buy any of their clothes.. I think about the designers in past seasons and can count at least 3-4 good designers in each season that had something special.
 Not this Season...
They are really mediocre...

None of their designs just knocked me out, except Kelly and Blake's Episode 3.
This is the only dress that really had me wanting more..

I can give you a list of 7 Seasons of Project Runway and name 3 to 4 really good designers.

Season 7
Emilio Sosa
Seth Aaron
Mili

Season 8
Mondo
Michael Costello
Gretchen
Casanova

Season 9
Anthony Ryan
Viktor
Joshua

Season 10
Dimitry
Elena
Christopher
Ven

Season 11
Michelle
Patricia
Stanley
Daniel

Season 12
Dom
Helen
Alexander
Justin

Season 13
Kini
Sean
Amanda
Korina

Each designer I named had a distinctive style about themselves and they could execute their garments impeccably. I just can't say that about Season 14 group of designers..

REVIEW
MAKE IT SELL

We open the episode with designers being summoned to a classroom, where they are greeted by Tim Gunn and Fashion Director of JUSTFAB, Yuchin Mao..
She tells them that JUSTAB has recently expanded beyond accessories and now are moving toward apparel. Well Personally, I just have to say that I LOVE JUSTFAB SHOES.
I own about 4 pair and each and everyone of them are cute and comfortable ass hell. I can actually run in them, NO LIE!!!
Because I have.

I couldn't do the "dazzle" thing, everytime I would get the shoe. They would fit funny and I would feel awkward in them..

But I Digress...

Tim goes on to say the JUSTFAB has 5 Categories of Style Members Personas.

Bombshell
Trendsetter
Girl Next Door
Modern Classic
Femme Nouveau

The designers had to create a RTW look to be reproduced and sold on JUSTFAB website using the personas and Candice was first to pick and assigned everyone else their personas. I must say that she wasn't mean or anything, she actually did a good job at assigning the designers their personas.
No Mean Girls In This Episode...

Later on in the challenge Tim comes in and tells them they have to create a Logo/Brand for the outfit and put it on a print T-Shirt.

Kelly's outfit was soo Trendy and Fun..
I do understand when Kelly said, shit give me $20 and I'll show what to do with it..
Everyone else was scared because they were given $100 for the challenge.
I really think Kelly knocked it out of the park with this on..
I can see a teen or a cool chic with this on. It's not my taste but I can honest say, I really liked it..

Trendsetter

Ashley
I don't understand why you do this to us every episode..
I can make this or go to the store and buy this..
It's not special at all. The only thing I like is the jacket and the back of it at that.
The skirt and shirt looked dirty to me.
Wasn't Cute At All!!

Girl Next Door

Candice
Was this an updated version of Wednesday on The Addams Family?
NO! NO!
I just don't get it.. What's going on with these designers..
The model's hips looks twice as big than it really is..
Don't get me started on the stripped tie..

Trendsetter

Merline
She has the ability to be a GREAT designer but she gets in her own way. Always over thinking, sweetie calm yourself down and breathe through this. When you really step back and look at it, this is a good design but the execution is sloppy, messy, and too many ideas..
I want YOU, yes I said YOU to look at this dress and tell me if you can see 2 good dresses out of this design. I know I can..
Example of one..
That's all she had to do was take that peplum off and hem the skirt.
She probably would have won, the back and sides are everything with the mesh.
She has too much going on in her head, too many ideas...

Femme Nouveau

Swapnil
I don't understand what this was. He made his model look cheap and I bet that fabric was $20 a yard and it looked $2 a yard.. I say that all the time, you can't buy class or taste..
What is that earring doing on the butt of her dress and the Snail/Cocoon thing on her back..

Next To Go...
Bombshell

Laurie,
You don't and didn't listen.
Tim talks to you constantly and you never listen and that's why you're anyways at the bottom and now gone. You know everything and no one can tell you anything.
That's it..

I would only wear the skirt and shoes.
The top looks like a black trash bag..
BORING..

GONE!!!
Modern Classic

Congrats to Edmond on another WIN!
You see that Edmond listened and took Tim's advice.

WINNER!!!
Bombshell

I didn't even like this but that was the only thing that the judges could come up with to win.
Again, I really liked Kelly's but I digress. I won't take the win away from Edmond..

That's another Project Runway Review..
Thanks for stopping by, please comment or share if you like..
Thanks Again..

Until Next Time..
PR IT CHIC!!!!

New Orleans Style Homemade Yaka-Mein!!
If you're not form New Orleans, then you probably will not know what this is. But if you do, then here's the recipe for "Yaka-Meat". Yaka-Meat originated http://www.noladefender.com/content/bowl-mystery. Link above to make a long story short..
Ingredients below:

2 pounds of stew meat beef 3 or 4 quarts of water 2 cubes of beef bouillon cubes Black Pepper to taste Salt to taste Garlic Powder to taste Onion Powder to taste Kitchen Bouquet 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Half Bottle Soy Sauce Half Bottle Any Louisiana Hot Sauce Long Green Onions Boiled Eggs

I know it looks a little gross but believe me, the outcome is delicious!  Put Meat, Cubes,  Seasoning, Kitchen Bouquet in a big pot, let it simmer for about 5 minutes or until the beef is browned. Add the 3-4 quarts of water and half bottles of Worcestershire and Soy sauce. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium and let cook about 2-3 hours or until beef is tender enough to fall apart.

DIY Faux Leather Tote Bag

Hey Everyone! I'm back again with another DIY for you all. I don't know what it is but I'm really starting to love making handbags, clutches, and totes. I guess it's the faux leather that's inspiring me.
Well this time, it's an easy Faux Leather Tote To Go! It took about 2 hours to from start to finish.

This will definitely be my everyday purse when the girls school starts and running errands.
The faux leather was purchased on fabric.com for $7 a yard.  I only purchased a yard but received almost 2 yards.  Thanks Fabric.com..
Looking at YT, again and I saw the cutest leather tote that I had to make. First, I made a mini purse, just to see if I could so it. Then I decided to make the larger version. It came out perfect..  My hubby even thought it was a new purse and didn't believe I made it. He inspected it as many Arabs do and I just laughed. He said. babe it's really nice.
PROUD MOMENT!!!!

From the Beach to the City... Sewing! Tunic time...

Cynthia Rowley - Simplicity 2854..Well this year my family and I are taking 2 trips in one... We going to the beach and back home to New Orleans (my hometown).. I want to make a couple of pieces that I can transition in both places.. Well I think I found something else.. I love tunics.... In blogs to come I will take pictures of tunics I've sewn through the years.
Simplicity 2584 View B:

This pattern was one of my first pattern that I purchased... years.. I was too scared to try the yoke (neckline), that I put it in the back of my patterns..I went to Wal-Mart and purchased this Home Decor, Linen-like fabric..  I couldn't pass up $3 per yard, so I got 3 yards.
Advice: Read your patterns and when you can't understand them. read them again.. I have a tendency to look and skim through patterns. This one had me praying.
Below: I love how it came out.. I know I'll be making a few more for the trip, some in contrasting colors... I can put flip flops on for the beach and we…

I just received this faux croc leather in the mail yesterday and as soon as I looked at it, I know exactly what I wanted to do. I'd been eyeing Jil Sander's purses and clutches and knew I had to make something inspired from her beautiful collections.
