Cake In A Cup.... Easy, Fun, and Delicious...

Hey Everyone!
Here's a great idea when you're craving for Chocolate Cake or a Brownie.
I remember watching the Pioneer Woman a couple of months ago and writing this recipe down.
My baby girl asked if I had any Chocolate, because we like something sweet after dinner.
I looked in the snack box and cabinets,
NO CHOCOLATE!

Then, I remember that I had Cocoa Powder and it was on..
It's soo easy that I let Nile (my 8 year old) do it, I just supervised and gave her the measuring spoons.

They came out soo moist and delicious.
You can add all types of goodies and topping on it.
Again, they are great for kids.

Ingredients
3 TBS Flour
3 TBS Sugar
2 TBS Cocoa Powder ( I used Hershey's Cocoa Unsweetened)
1/4 tsp of Baking Powder
Dash of Salt

Put all of those ingredients in a cup and stir with a fork until combined.

Next Add
3 TBS Milk
3 TBS Vegetable Oil
1/4 tsp of Vanilla

Stir with spoon until all is combined.

Put in Microwave for 90 seconds.
Seriously!!!

It comes out great.
The picture below doesn't do it justice but the taste will set you free.
LOL!

Look how moist and delicious it looks.
Soo Good..

I hope you've enjoyed this quick, easy and fun recipe.

2 Week Meal Planning and Savings Process..#1

Hey Everyone!
Now days eggs are almost $3 a dozen and milk is also $3 a gallon.
I have a family of 4 and we live off of 1 income, so meal planning and saving money is a must for us. Below is how I meal plan and my process and tips you a your family can use.

First,
Prior to me going to the store, I look in my cabinets and freezer to see what I have and can use. I also DVR cooking shows, Pinterest, look at magazines with recipes I'd look to try and for inspiration.

Meal Plan for these 2 weeks.
(My Actual Meal Plan This Week)

Tuesday and Wednesday
Beef and Veggie Soup with Saltine Crackers

Thursday and Friday
Banh Mi Chicken Sandwich w/ Baked Potatoes

Saturday
My Daughters Favorite
Buffalo Wings w/ Cucumber and Ranch/Blue Cheese Dressing..
These will be gone by Sunday lunch time

Sunday and Monday
Stir Fry Ginger Beef with Sugar Snap Peas w/ Basmati Rice and a Asian Salad.

Tuesday and Wednesday
Roasted Chicken with Green Beans and Roasted potatoes

STOP!!!!!
Since I had chicken leftover from Tuesday and Wednesday's dinner.
I decided to pull the rest of the chicken off the bone a make a
BBQ Jalapeno Pizza on Thursday.

Friday
We decided to go out to eat..

Thursday and Friday
Broiled Fish with Lemon and Butter w/ Asparagus and Salad

(This meal will be made on Sunday and Monday)

Saturday
Turkey Tacos

Sunday and Monday
BBQ Chicken Thighs w/ Veggie Baked Beans and Rice
(This meal will be put on next 2 week menu..

I never ever go shopping without a List and a Budget.
I try my best spend $150 every 2 weeks.
I first go to Dollar Tree for more saving (also with a list) and then Walmart.

This week I spent $27.07 @ Dollar Tree.
(Picture Below)
I telling you all don't slip on the Dollar Tree, they carry alot of name brands.

16 oz Seasoning Salt for $1.
Score!!!

I always get this Cobblestone bread of a $1.
I know the expiration date is near, just put it in the fridge or freezer and it last even longer.
This bread is delicious with my Cranberry and Cashew Chicken Salad.
I forgot I also get Cashews and Dried Cranberries for Dollar Tree.

My daughter loves her smoothies and Dollar Tree has frozen fruit that are amazing.
Strawberry,Peach, Mango, Blueberry and Pineapple most are 12 oz bags for $1.

Walmart
I spent $121.27 @ Walmart, not bad because I caught some deals @ Dollar Tree.

When I shop, I'm armed with the sales paper (price matching) in which I've already circled all the deals and what I need, grocery list, and meal plan for the 2 weeks.

Deals
These potatoes were $4 for this 4 lbs bag.
Save A Lot had the same bag for $1.79.
$2 saving.

Don't be afraid to be meat right before expiration date.
Take it a freeze until needed.
Almost a $2.50 saving.
I wanted Flank Steak but Beef Stir Fry will do just fine with my Ginger Beef.

You guys probably don't see alot of meat that's because about 2 1/2 weeks ago.
My family and I went to WinCo, where we get most of our meat.
They sell meat in bulk for reasonable prices.
I bought 9 piece chicken breast for $8.
I bought Whole Chicken 6 lbs for $5.
Chicken Wings for $7.
5 lb Ground Turkey for $5.
I think 2 other things, I forgot but the total was $60.

I then come home and broke all of it down and put it in the freezer.
This will last my family of 4 about a month and half.
I don't buy meat at Walmart, but if I can catch a good deal on meat like the one above. By all means get it..

Again don't be afraid to by baked bread too.
I usually bake my own but sometimes I may not be in the mood.
I just put these in the freezer until needed.
These will be great with my Banh Mi Chicken Sandwich.

Other Deals
Tomatoes $.69 a lbs. Walmart wanted $1.12 a lbs.
Asparagus $.98 ea. Walmart wanted $3.67 ea.
Cucumbers $.48 ea. Walmart wanted $.78 ea.
Strawberries $1.89 ea. Walmart wanted $2.89 ea.
Navels was 12 for $1, Walmart wanted $.69 ea.

This is exactly why I Price Match.
If I were to purchase the above items at Walmart for regular price it would total:
$22.02
By Price Matching using the Sales Paper my total was:
$7.02

A total saving of
$14.97
Amazing Savings!!!!!

But this still doesn't include the bread, meat and potatoes savings.

I could have bought a whole another meal and a half.

Alot of people don't but buy Walmart bread, I do for $.88, Steal..

I love these wraps and use these alot for my daughter's school lunch.

Another Tip:
Don't slip on the store brand, most of the ingredients are the same.
I season it a little more or add a little something to it.

I should be the Ambassador for Great Value.
I've learn a long time ago that Name Brand doesn't always mean good.
Trust and Believe..

Last Deal
These chips were $5.50, Name Brand chips $7.
$1.50 saving!!

I was prepared to spend $150 all together and only spent $148.
OK!

Tips:
Plan Meals
Buy Meat in Bulk
Sale Papers for Price Matching.
Stick to your list.
Look at what you have in your freezer or cabinets..
Dollar Tree is your friend.
Store Brand is just the same..

I hope you've enjoyed a journey in my mind on how I meal plan and keep my family of 4 fed on a budget with 1 income.

Polka Dot Short Suit.. Butterick 5469 and Simplicity 1887

Hey Everyone!
I'm back with another finished project.
I know some of you remember this fabric.
Last year, Wally World had tons of this in a whole lot of patterns and I made sure it get some yards, LOL!
Since the groundhog said that spring is near, I've decided to start doing a little finishing up on last year spring summer clothes I set aside. When I bought the fabric, I knew I didn't want to make a skirt. I really wanted to make statement with the polka dot, something uncommon. So I decided Jacket and Shorts would be the my answer. I knew if I did pants it would have be too much for me being that I'm 5'4 and a long sleeve jacket would make me look even bigger than I am..

I recommend that everyone who is looking for a great pair of shorts to try these.
They're soo comfy and cute, I think I'm made about 4 pair of shorts in this pattern.

And We're Off!!

Shorts All Cut Out

Front and pocket sewn..

Inside of shorts and pocket view all sewn together..

Shorts all done, as you can see I added the black lining to break it up the polka dots.
Love the way it came out.

Close View of Pocket..

I've also made this Jacket View A in a plaid without the pockets and recommend you try.

Butterick 5469 View A

Jacket Cut Out
You don't see the black lining because I was going to use the polka dot as lining but the material was too thin, So back to Wally World to get some black lining fabric.

View of the jacket being constructed.

View of pinned collar.

Bottom collar done.
Lets keep the mismatch pattern between you and me.
It's the bottom collar, no one will know..
LOL!

Sewing the lining together.

Inside lining on the dress form.

All done after putting lining in jacket.

Jacket open and done with lining

We're done with and a look at both pieces together..

I hope you've enjoyed my pictorial and one day you'll see me in it.
I PROMISE!!
One day I'll take pictures of my clothes that I've sewn but never wore.
That should be a treat..
 LOL!!
Comment if you'd like me to do that..

Ikat Cigarette Pant - Simplicity 1371

Hey Everyone!
I'm coming at you with another pictorial.
I had come across this fabric in Wally World but decided to get the technicolor chevron instead.
Then one Thursday night I was watching Lip Sync Battle and was Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson battling it out and I almost jumped through the roof when I saw the outfit she had on..
That girl has a body for days, but the pants made me think about the Ikat I saw at Wally World weeks before. You all already know what I did the next morning after I dropped the girls off at school.
Yes, Wally World here I come..

I know the fabric isn't exactly like her pants but it reminded me of them and that's all I needed to get by.
LOL!

My inspiration was Tracee Ellis Ross on the Lip Sync Battle last week.
I knew I had the pattern because I  made these pants before.
If only I could find that sheer fabric top.

When I made these before I heard that they fit funny, so what I did was cut up a size bigger.
But when I tried them on, they were extremely too big. I had to cut them down alot.
So this time I stayed true to the pattern size and they fit perfectly.
They actually gave more of a slimming effect.
Child, I put on some heels and pranced all in the mirror.
LOL!

Pieces all cut as usual.
I choose not to cut out the waistband because I wanted it a little wider that the pattern suggested.

I'm not going to bore you with all the details.

Pocket all done.

Pant all sew together.

View of the pocket..

Waistband interfaced and ready to be sewn on.

Looking good.

Now I need a zipper.
Question???
Is it just me or do you love colorful zippers?

I love my zippers to make statement.
My zipper was too long, so I had to cut it.

Pant on dressform, I know the zipper isn't perfect but I love it anyway..

I think it took me longer to cut the fabric out than to actually sew the pant..

I know this for sure, I will be making more in lot of pattern fabrics.
