Sew-Back-Thursday's

Hi Everyone!!!
I know today is Thursday, Throw Back Thursday that is..
I've officially claimed it as Sew-Back Thursday..

Here's a few pictures of garments that I've sewn in 2012. This is the time when I really started showing my work and feeling good about it.
I have certainly come a long way baby..
LOL!

I purchased this fabric from Walmart and loved it soo much.
I used a Dana Buchman's shirt to trace, mind you, I didn't know how to read patterns or have a dress form.

I was soo happy with my dress form my hubby bought me. I started teaching myself how to read patterns. I was on YT all day and night..

I love this skirt soo much, she looks fabulous on me too.
Sad, I have yet to wear my skirt anywhere.
Walmart Fabric

I made this beautiful lady for my mother for Mardi Gras.
She loved it. I think I'm want to make her another for next year..
Walmart Fabric

Another Walmart great find.
This was a maxi skirt but being that I'm short, I looked crazy as hell in it.
So I repurposed it and made this lovely creature.
Only wore it once.

My very first "real" jumpsuit..

This is the actually first time I've ever put two patterns together.

LOL!!

My first wrap dress ever made..
I couldn't wear it but inside because my "girls" wouldn't stay inside.
I didn't measure enough for the 34F's..
I used her as a robe, fabric from fabric.com..

I made this for my girlfriend and she hated it. I thought she looked great it.
So I kept it for myself. I love it on too, but have yet to wear it..

My "Starbucks Inspired" Vanilla Bean Scones

Hello Everyone!!!
I'm in love with Starbucks Vanilla Bean Scones..
Everytime I'm at Starbucks, I make it a point to buy their tasty scones, but they can be a little pricey.
So I did my research on the YT and other blogs and found an easy recipe from The Pioneer Woman. Rea, does it again and knocks it out the park with this one.

Don't they look delicious and they taste even better.

The ingredients you'll need:
3 Cups of flour
2/3 Cups of Sugar
5 teaspoons of Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon Salt
2 Sticks of Butter Really Cold Almost Frozen (I used Margarine)
1 Egg (Room Temp)

GLAZE
5 Cups of Powdered Sugar
1/2 Cup of Whole Milk
1/2 Tablespoon of Vanilla
Dash of Cinnamon

Preheat oven 350 degrees..
In a separate bowl combine 3/4 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream, 1 tablespoon of Vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon. Let set aside and marinate until needed.

In your mixer or bowl mix all dry ingredients.

Cut the cold butter up.

Add into the dry ingredients

Mix until it looks like corn meal..

Just like the bottom picture

Now add the room temp egg into the Vanilla Cream

Add to mixture

Quickly mix ingredients together.
Mix about 10 times then stop it.

It should looks like this..
Crumbs, flour and all

Place on counter and form into a ball.

Take rolling pin and roll out dough

You should get 24 scones out of the recipe.
I did!!

Put on cookie sheet and bake for 18 minutes or until just before they start to turn golden brown..

Take them out and let cool for about 15 mins..
Then glaze then and let them dry for about and hour.
They're so soft and chewy

I've made these 3 times and each time they come out better and better.

Please try these and let me know what you think about it..

I have soo many pictures of recipes and things that I've taken, it's just the sitting down and putting it into words and posting them.. I'm not going to promise anything else, I'll just show you..

Will here's how it all went down. I was making some stove top Lasagna and needed Ricotta Cheese to spruce it up. I wasn't about to put on clothes just to go to the store for Ricotta, you all know YouTube is a wonderful thing.
I got on YT and looked at a couple of recipes and Viola!

Take 8 Cups of milk and 2 Cups of Buttermilk and put into a pot.
Pot on Medium/High heat and let simmer until it separates.

Milk with Buttermilk

Starting to Simmer.

You can start to see it curdling..

Cook more.

It's almost there..

Now you can see it actually separating.
The process should take about 15 mins.

Perfection..

Completed!!

Now with a Coffee Filter, Colander and Slotted Spoon.
Spoon Ricotta in mixed and let drain.

Attention:
Don't press!!

Let it drain on it's own..

I let it drain a little too much but it still was delicious with dinner.
